First in-person meeting of the "Talking Heads" project participants in Skopje

In February 2025, participants of the European Union co-financed project "Talking Heads," including representatives from the Art Museum RIGA BOURSE, met for the first time in Skopje – the capital of North Macedonia. The three-day event marked the beginning of the project and laid the foundation for its exciting future.

Project representatives from six countries – North Macedonia, Greece, Slovenia, Georgia, Ukraine, and Latvia met in person and took part in creative workshops and exchanged experiences.

The main goal of the meeting was to prepare for the implementation of the next stages of the project. It is planned that the digital platform developed during the project will allow visitors of the involved cultural organizations to participate in interactive dialogues with selected works of art, such as sculptures and paintings. With help of artificial intelligence, it will be possible to bring artworks to life and create realistic, contextually appropriate conversations. This will provide visitors with a personalized experience, allowing them to explore the history and meaning of the artworks in a new, interactive way.

The goal of the "Talking Heads" project is to create a bridge between traditional cultural heritage and the digital age, offering dynamic and exciting experiences to visitors, particularly Millennials and Gen Z individuals who increasingly seek unique and interactive experiences in art and culture.

Over the three days, goals for the next steps were set, including plans to integrate technology and interactive elements into cultural heritage sites. The meeting also fostered international collaboration among project participants, ensuring that the necessary tools will be available for successfully achieving the project’s goals.

One of the highlights of the visit to North Macedonia was discovering the rich cultural landscape of Skopje. Participants had the opportunity to visit significant cultural institutions, such as the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art. These visits provided valuable insights into how North Macedonian cultural institutions preserve and interpret their heritage.

The meeting in Skopje was an important milestone that will allow the "Talking Heads" participants to continue working towards the successful development of the project.

The project "Talking Heads – Conversation with the art from the past" will be established under the Grant Agreement No. 101174331, funded by the Creative Europe Program (CREA-CULT-2024-COOP). The project will be implemented over a period of 36 months starting from 01.11.2024."
