Digital Image Request Policy
The Latvian National Museum of Art (LNMA) provides access to digital images of its collections for research, educational, and personal use. Digital images are considered part of the museum’s collection and are protected in accordance with copyright and other applicable legal regulations.
Permitted and Restricted Uses of Images
Digital images may be used for:
- research purposes;
- educational purposes;
- personal, non-commercial use.
All images must be accompanied by a credit line to the Latvian National Museum of Art's collection.
Commercial Use
The use of digital images for commercial purposes is permitted only with prior written authorization from LNMA.
Please note that this service may be subject to the museum’s public price list for paid services.
Submission of Requests
To request digital images, please submit a written request (application form) by email to: .
The request must include:
- applicant’s name, surname, position, and represented institution;
- email address and phone number;
- the specific purpose of use (e.g. publication, academic paper);
- invoicing information.
Details of the requested objects:
- artist's name and surname;
- title of the artwork;
- LNMA inventory number.
Personal data will be used solely for processing the request, in accordance with the LNMA Privacy Policy.
Copyright and Third-Party Rights
Please be advised:
- If the digitized object is protected by copyright, the applicant is solely responsible for obtaining any additional permissions from the rights holders.
- The LNMA shall not be held liable for any copyright infringement by the applicant.
- Digital files may only be used for the purpose specified in the request.
- Any subsequent or repeated use of the digital image must be re-authorized by the LNMA.
- The applicant is prohibited from transferring, distributing, or selling the digital files to third parties.
Processing Time
Requests are reviewed within 10 business days.
An LNMA specialist will contact you if additional information is required.
Image Availability
The LNMA provides high-quality digital files subject to the current state of digitization of the collection.
If a high-resolution file for a specific object is not yet available, the LNMA will inform the applicant of potential solutions.

Recent acquisitions of contemporary art in the LNMA collection can be explored online at: www.makslaskolekcija.lv.
Please note that due to copyright restrictions, images for all collection items may not be available online.
