Applications are now open for the 8th Riga International Textile and Fibre Art Triennial
From May 28 to September 19, 2027, the Latvian National Museum of Art will host the large-scale 8th Riga International Textile and Fibre Art Triennial, themed “Liminal Space.” Artists are invited to submit their applications by September 1, 2026.
Since 2001, Riga has become a meeting place for textile artists from around the world, who gather to take part in one of the most significant international events in the Baltics – the Riga International Textile and Fiber Art Triennial “Tradition and Innovation.” It is a platform where ideas and materials, philosophy and diverse artistic techniques, experience and experimentation come together.

In 2027, the Triennial will be held for the eighth time, with the guiding theme “LIMINAL SPACE” – a threshold state where change is born, and new possibilities emerge. It is a space between “yesterday” and “tomorrow,” where tradition merges with the contemporary, and fiber becomes a metaphor for transition and transformation.
Artists are invited to participate with works created in various techniques and media – from classical tapestry to video textiles. An international jury will select submissions for the exhibition, which will open on May 28, 2027, at the main building of the Latvian National Museum of Art.

The Triennial is not only an exhibition – it is also a conversation, an encounter, a conference, satellite exhibitions, and creative workshops. It is an opportunity to become part of an artistic community that has been shaping this event’s history for more than two decades.
Application deadline: September 1, 2026 Participation is free of charge. To apply, please complete the documents provided below.
