Volunteer of the Year 2019
On November 30, 2019, at the cultural palace “Ziemeļblāzma” in Riga, Nora Gavare, a participant in the Art Museum’s Volunteer Program, was awarded the honorary title “Volunteer of the Year 2019” for her contribution to the Latvian National Museum of Art and the community.
To promote interest in volunteer work among Latvian citizens and encourage the involvement of people of all ages and organizations in volunteer activities, the “Volunteer of the Year” award ceremony took place for the sixth time. From 162 applications received, nine of the most active volunteer organizers and contributors in Latvia were honored.
Nora
Nora has been a volunteer at the Latvian National Museum of Art since 2016 and is one of the most active participants in the program, both in the museum’s public areas and in other organizational processes. In the museum’s public areas, Nora communicates with visitors, supervises the Information Desk, issues mobile audio guide devices and Family Bags, and informs visitors about current events in the museum, especially engaging with younger visitors. Nora has a strong sense of responsibility and excellent communication skills, which is why she has frequently assisted museum educators in creative workshops for both adults and children. With her compassion, openness, and willingness to help, Nora continues to inspire other volunteers and staff at the Latvian National Museum of Art.
The “Volunteer of the Year 2019” awards ceremony is organized by the State Employment Agency in collaboration with the Ministry of Welfare, Ministry of Education and Science, the Youth International Program Agency, the Youth Department of Daugavpils City Council, the Public Integration Administration of Jelgava City Council, the Latvian Youth Council, the Valmiera District Foundation, and the Education, Culture and Sports Department of the Riga City Council.
