Onigiri pop-up

During the final days of the exhibition Snow Melts. Japanese Art, from 1 to 3 May, visitors to the Art Museum RIGA BOURSE will have the opportunity to enjoy onigiri, a familiar food of everyday Japanese culture, in the museum’s atrium. The onigiri will be prepared by the Japanese restaurant group Fukuoka Style from Tallinn, Estonia.

The exhibition Snow Melts. Japanese Art is dedicated to spring in Japanese culture – a season in which the rhythms of nature, shared experience, and a conscious awareness of the present moment hold special significance. As the exhibition draws to a close, this atmosphere will be complemented by onigiri, a familiar part of everyday Japanese food culture. These rice balls with various fillings are known in Japan as a simple, nourishing, and much-loved comfort food.

Fukuoka Style is a Japanese restaurant group based in Tallinn, bringing together several dining concepts and offering both traditional and modern Japanese cuisine. Its aim is to introduce European audiences to authentic Japanese food culture in a simple and accessible way.

During the pop-up, freshly prepared onigiri will be available in a variety of flavours: teriyaki salmon, spicy salmon, tuna mayo, spicy tuna mayo, shiitake mushrooms and kombu (vegetarian), and chicken miso. A special onigiri flavour — ume, or pickled plum — will also be available in limited quantities. The price of one onigiri is 3.50 EUR.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to taste Japanese green tea in limited quantities.

Duration time: 1–3 May from 11.00AM to 17.00PM (or until sold out)
