Art Museum Youth Club

The Art Museum Youth Club is a dynamic, free educational program designed to introduce school and university-age youth (15+) to the fields of culture and art, while also highlighting and developing each participant’s individual skills and abilities.

Club members engage in the art museum environment and explore cultural diversity through meetings with experts from various fields. During the activities, young people gain knowledge about educational and creative development opportunities, as well as about building long-term connections within museums and other cultural sectors in Latvia, while considering their own future professional perspectives.

The program was launched in art museums in 2017, with participants implementing diverse and creative ideas while collaborating with various Latvian cultural organizations and professionals. The Youth Club’s involvement in major museum events has included activities such as special programs during large-scale exhibitions, the creation of printed and digital publications, compiling Spotify playlists, organizing events for Museum Night and International Museum Day, developing the Youth Club Guide, and staging performances at exhibitions of young artists. Representatives of the program have also participated in the Hospitāļu Street Festival, the conversation festival LAMPA, the LABA DABA Festival, and have even curated their own exhibition “HOW TO #CHILDHOOD” at the Daugava Stadium.

Participation in the Youth Club also helps young people better understand and recognize future opportunities for study, professions, and careers. We are proud that among former and current members are students of the Art Academy of Latvia, architecture and design students in the United States and the United Kingdom, professionals working in the arts, as well as young actors, poets, and writers.
