Three Major Awards of the Film “Straume” on Display at LNMA

In response to high public interest, the Latvian National Museum of Art (at Jaņa Rozentāla laukums 1, Riga) continues its successful collaboration with the team behind the animated film Straume and will showcase the film’s three most prestigious awards from March 7 to 16, 2025. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the European Film Academy Award, the U.S. film and television award Golden Globe and the U.S. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award Oscar.

Less than two months ago, one of the awards for Straume (2024), a feature-length animated film directed by Gints Zilbalodis, was exhibited in the 3rd-floor lobby of the Latvian National Museum of Art— the Golden Globe statuette, displayed alongside cat sculptures created by Latvian classical sculptor Teodors Zaļkalns. This small-scale express exhibition garnered significant public interest, attracting more than 15,600 visitors who came to share the joy of Latvia’s first-ever recognition by the U.S. film industry.

Celebrating the phenomenal global success of the film, the Latvian National Museum of Art invites visitors to a new pop-up exhibition showcasing the three highest professional accolades received by Straume: the European Film Academy Award (in the category Best European Feature-Length Animated Film), the Golden Globe from the U.S. film and television industry (in the category Best Animated Feature Film), and the Academy Award (Oscar) from the U.S. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (in the category Best Animated Feature Film).

These prestigious awards will be on display in the 3rd-floor lobby of LNMA during museum hours, free of charge. However, visitors are encouraged to donate in support of Ukraine using the donation box on the 2nd floor lobby or via the self-service Tapbox kiosk. As part of this initiative, art lovers will also have the opportunity to explore the museum’s 3rd-floor permanent exhibition free of charge.
