The Order of the Three Stars

On May 19 at Riga Castle the President of Latvia Egils Levits awarded the New York-based Latvian painter Vija Celmiņš the Order of the Three Stars, Third Class, for her outstanding achievements in culture, her significant contribution to the development of global contemporary art processes, and her efforts in maintaining national identity.

said Egils Levits while congratulating the painter.

The Chapter of Orders awarded Vija Celmiņš the Order of the Three Stars, Third Class, and appointed her as a Commander of the Order of the Three Stars during a session on October 18, 2019. The artist expressed her wish to receive the award in Latvia. Currently, Vija Celmiņš has arrived in Latvia following the opening of her exhibition Double Vision at the Hamburger Kunsthalle.
