Creative Workshop:
Sultan’s Lights

Turkish mosaic lamps have enchanted for centuries with their interplay of colour and light, becoming an integral part of Ottoman culture. In this workshop, you’ll discover this tradition – learning about the origins and significance of the lamps – and create your own version, exploring the aesthetics of craftsmanship through a hands-on creative process.

Mosaic lamps are among the most vivid symbols of Ottoman culture, uniting practicality with decorative beauty. The play of light and colour they create has long shaped the atmosphere of homes and the visual identity of cultural spaces, while symbolising luxury and refined artisanal skill.

The event begins with a museum specialist’s talk on the history, meaning, and everyday role of the lamps, along with a demonstration of the technique. Afterwards, participants will work practically to make their own mosaic lamp. This workshop is an opportunity not only to learn skills and produce a unique object, but also to experience how light and colour can be transformed into a story.
