Announcement of the Vija Celmins Foundation Grant Recipient

On Monday, 20 October 2025, at 5:00 PM, the Latvian National Museum of Art will announce the recipient of the Vija Celmins Foundation Grant.

The event will be attended by artist Vija Celmins, who, together with representatives of the Foundation, participated in the selection of the grant recipient.

A total of 85 artists and artist collectives applied for the Vija Celmins Foundation Grant, amounting to USD 30,000.
The jury — consisting of art historian Elita Ansone, founder of the Kim? Contemporary Art Centre Zane Čulkstēna, and artists and curators Kaspars Groševs, Maija Kurševa, and Inga Meldere — selected eleven applications to be forwarded for further evaluation in the United States.
From these, representatives of the Vija Celmins Foundation have chosen one grant recipient, whose name will be announced on 20 October.

The Latvian National Museum of Art and the Vija Celmins Foundation express their sincere gratitude to all artists who submitted applications and shared their creative ideas and visions.
