Latvian Museum Association ANNUAL AWARD 2022:
Online Education Program for Students "No-zīmes"

On May 27, 2022, as part of the Latvian Museum Days, the Latvian Museum Association's Annual Award 2022 was presented at the Jēkabpils History Museum's Open-Air Department "Sēļu Sēta." The main award recipient was the online education program for students, "No-zīmes."

The "No-zīmes" project has created 12 new online lessons at four art museums – the main building of the Latvian National Museum of Art, Art Museum RIGA BOURSE, Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, and Romans Suta and Aleksandra Beļcova Museum.

Each museum will offer three remote lessons – one for primary school, one for secondary school, and one for high school students. "No-zīmes" provides a museum offering especially suited for the digital environment, designed through in-depth audience research and the integration of modern digital solutions. The project addresses a current issue for museums – how cultural institutions can effectively attract the attention of Generation Z children and young people in the digital space, taking into account the quality of competing content. The program also offers insight into the diversity of professions in the cultural sector, helping students become aware of their future professional opportunities. The experts featured in the 32 lessons were selected to represent the diversity of the sector in terms of age, gender, and other characteristics.

Jury's comment:

The online education program for students, "No-zīmes," is a timely and significant effort to engage and attract a new audience. Its impact on society is invaluable, representing an investment in the future. Social aspects, accessibility, clarity, and comprehensibility have been carefully considered. It is a flawlessly executed project that has thoughtfully reviewed and redefined every step, from the concept to the communication of results and the implementation of the educational programs. "No-zīmes" is a model for creating online programs in museums, emphasizing uniqueness, demonstrating how to plan, critically evaluate, and develop even as a familiar museum service as a museum pedagogue.
