Latvian Museum Association Annual Award 2024 laureate:
LNMA children’s exhibition "Green and Greener"
On June 3, 2024, the Latvian Museum Day, at the Museum of Eduards Veidenbaums “Kalāči” held the Latvian Museum Association Annual Award ceremony. One of the awards was granted to the LNMA children's exhibition "Green and Greener", curated by Laura Dravniece.
Jury's comment on the children's exhibition: "A relevant and visually rich exhibition has been created, adding value as another step toward the target audience. The project enables a multifaceted exploration and understanding of the particularly significant synergy between art and nature in today's world."
The Grand Prize is awarded to the Ziedonis Museum for its new offering – the individual visit program "Museum Road Notes."
The project demonstrates that a museum can be a pioneer in the innovative and meaningful adoption of technology, as well as in interdisciplinary collaboration, addressing legal and technological challenges. The Ziedonis Museum has fulfilled Imants Ziedonis' dream of becoming a gardener, with the poet personally welcoming each visitor, sharing stories about the plants and trees he once planted, and encouraging reflection on oneself, one's place in the world, and existing values,
the jury commented.
The submitted projects were evaluated by a jury panel consisting of five experts invited by the Board of the Latvian Museum Association, including:
- Elīna Bērziņa – Head of the Education Sector at the UNESCO Latvian National Commission
- Edgars Plētiens – Deputy Director of the Education Department at the Ministry of Education and Science, and a history teacher at Draudzīgā Aicinājuma Cēsis State Gymnasium
